Zinc Chloride is a concentrated source of zinc ions, commonly used to supply or reconstitute the zinc cofactor required by metalloenzymes such as alcohol dehydrogenase, carbonic anhydrase, and RNA polymerases. It is also used in the study of zinc finger proteins and other zinc-dependent structural motifs, as well as in cell culture applications where trace zinc supplementation is required.
